Wagon Trails West
I met the Wagon Trails West crew in the Elko City Park summer of 2006 at a California Trails Day celebration and loved their setup of mules, authentic wagons, and equipment needed for a trek west to California in the 1800s.
That day in the Park Lori, Neil, Carolyn, and Casey ran the crowd through what it took to travel from St. Louis all the way to California. You’d have to carry hay for the animals, personal items, food, bedding, and tools and it would all have to fit in one wagon. Would there be room?
Right there in the Park we put each item into the wagon hoping for a little left over for Mama’s hope chest, sister’s rag doll, and little brother’s toys, and maybe Papa’s carving set.
The Wagons West crew can run this educational brain-teaser for school children or for your club or organization. During the summer and fall Wagon Trails West gives tourists rides in the wagon, staging anywhere from local casinos and RV parks to dedicated, requested spots. I say call them and work out a deal!
I felt from the minute I met these folks I wanted to do business with them. I’m happy to feature “Wagon Trails West” on my web page.

This is an example of one of the many California Trail markers that can be seen at various points along the trail. This one in particular is found along the Bishop Creek route that early pioneers took on their way from Thousand Springs heading toward the wells in Wells, Nevada. The caption reads "Kanyon Creek (Bishop Creek) extends along our route all day. Occasionally touching it sufficiently to furnish us most of the time with good water" James Shepard July 15, 1850. Here guests are able to enjoy a variety of activities including wagon rides, picnics, walks along the trail toward year-round hot springs, etc.

This picture highlights our authentically reproduced covered wagon available for guests of all ages to enjoy in a wide variety of locations. Our wagon has be "modernized" to accommodate city road travel for parades, shuttle services at local events, etc. The wagon can accommodate up to 10 adults (terrain permitting) and the mules can travel as long as the seats of their passengers can handle the ride!

This is our wagon and "four-up" of trusty mules, Bud, Sue, Max and Lil. This was a lovely day meandering through Lamoille, Nevada; a perfect location for family parties, reunions or just a special day to add to the book of memories. We are waiting to make your event one to remember!

Wagon West Trails works with school districts, giving elementary school children hands on lessons about life on the California Trail. They have an authentic covered wagon and a four up hitch of big black draft mules that pull the wagon as they roll along the trail with the children learning about the important decisions folks had to make coming across the country (like how and what to pack inside the wagon), etc.
During the summer and fall Wagon Trails West gives tourists rides in the wagon, staging anywhere from local casinos and RV parks to dedicated, requested spots. Wagon Trails West can provide 1/2 day and full day rides that can include lunch, or simply water and soft drinks. Wagon West Trails needs a minimum of 4 passengers with 24 hours advance booking. Group discounts apply. Wagon Trails West asks for a donation of $95/person for a full day ride, and $75/pp for 3 hours.
