“I like the bigness of it, being on top of a mountain and looking out over this country. I like being connected to the land. This gives me a sense of freedom; I’m detached from the chaos of life.”

D. Anderson, Indianapolis, Indiana, 2004

Would you like to spend 2-3, or more, days on a ranch with authentic working cowboys?

If you’d like to learn/relearn horsemanship, sample genuine ranch cuisine (cowboy beans, ranch-grass-fed beef steak), sleep outside in a tent, under the stars, or in the bunkhouse, and ride that horse in a spectacular mountain setting, keep reading!

After a night’s stay in Elko we’ll drive an hour out of town to ranch headquarters in the East Humboldt Mountains to begin our "cowboy training."

Learning to be a real cowboy isn’t just about riding a horse. It’s also learning how to work with cows. With us you can learn how to herd cattle, and how to rope.

Some may want to learn to hitch and drive a team of horses.

Help move cows, ride your horse up the mountain, wrangle horses, camp near a high mountain lake, sleep in a tent or under the stars, take short rides around the ranch, go for wildflower hikes, practice your roping, or relax in the porch swing. Whatever you choose, dinner around the campfire, a little cowboy music/poetry, is always included.
